With nearly 30 years in practice, Dr. Michael Freedman delivers high-quality care to pediatric, adult, and senior patients throughout the Downriver area
Dr. Freedman is a double board-certified physician in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) medicine and Allergy, as well as a trained facial plastic surgeon. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of conditions, including sinus infections, allergies, nasal breathing issues, ear infections, hearing loss, dizziness, and disorders affecting the throat, swallowing, and voice. He also performs the removal and reconstruction of skin cancers, blending medical precision with an aesthetic approach. “I combine medical precision with cosmetic sensitivity,” he says, highlighting his dedication to achieving both functional and visual results for patients. His practice includes a full-service hearing and balance center, providing testing and treatment for auditory and vestibular disorders, with access to advanced hearing aid technology tailored to meet each patient’s needs.
Every patient in Dr. Freedman’s practice is personally evaluated and treated by him. “Every patient in my practice is seen and cared for directly by me,” he emphasizes, underscoring his belief in physician-led care. He does not delegate clinical responsibilities to mid-level providers, instead choosing to maintain a hands-on approach at every stage of diagnosis and treatment. “Delivering the highest standard of care means providing personal, physician-led attention at every step.” Patient education is also central to his philosophy: “I take the time to explain each condition and treatment option thoroughly, so my patients are empowered to make informed decisions.” For sinus procedures, he uses advanced surgical navigation technology in the office, adding, “This added layer of accuracy helps ensure the best possible outcomes with minimal risk.”
Dr. Freedman treats a wide range of ENT conditions, with a strong focus on sinus and allergy-related disorders. His practice features a fully equipped, in-office allergy clinic dedicated to diagnosing and treating both environmental and food allergies. “These are conditions that affect a growing number of people and often go under-recognized,” he explains. Testing is done on-site, and for eligible patients, he offers allergy desensitization therapy through allergy shots. “Allergy shots can significantly reduce symptoms and improve quality of life over time.”
In addition to allergy care, he also performs minimally invasive, office-based procedures designed to improve nasal breathing and address chronic sinus issues. He offers an innovative, in-office treatment for patients who suffer from persistent runny nose symptoms, which he describes as “an innovative, in-office treatment that can offer lasting relief.”
Dr. Freedman sees patients across the age spectrum—from young children experiencing ear infections or tonsil problems to older adults managing hearing loss, balance issues, or chronic ENT concerns. “No matter the age or concern, my goal is always the same: to help each patient feel heard, understood, and well cared for,” he says. His practice works closely with hospital systems including Corewell Health and Henry Ford Health, ensuring patients have access to coordinated care when specialized services or advanced treatment options are available.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Freedman is committed to community service. He supports initiatives like Baby Beats, a program for childhood heart conditions. “By contributing to this cause, I hope to help improve the lives of children facing heart challenges and support the research and resources needed to provide them with better care,” he says. Giving back to the community is an important part of his practice and personal commitment to making a positive impact beyond the clinic walls.
Dr. Freedman considers himself an “old-school doctor,” believing strongly in the value of direct doctor-patient interaction. “The face-to-face doctor-patient relationship is the cornerstone of effective care,” he asserts. His approach is always guided by what is in the best interest of his patients. “I find deep personal gratification in helping people feel better–physically, emotionally, and overall.” He adds, “Each day, I remind my patients that they don’t have to continue living with the discomfort they’ve grown used to–especially when it comes to sinus and allergy issues. With the right diagnosis and treatment plan, they can feel significantly better and truly enjoy a better quality of life.”
